The Betrayal
"The origins of the Hare Krishna movement
can be traced through its 5,000-year-old historical chain
of gurus, called a "disciplic succession." In Sanskrit, this
succession is called the "guru parampara." From 5,000 years
ago, until 1977, all of the gurus in the bona fide succession
have always been spotless in character. In 1977, the link
in the guru chain, and founder of the Hare Krishna movement,
Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, passed away. Immediately
after this event, Prabhupada's leading secretaries (Governing
Body Commissioners or GBCs) formed-what they have alleged-to
be "the continuation of the guru succession."
